That's The Spirit album review

Hey guys it's IK here and no, ST, I will not claim the blog as my own because it's a group project. Stupid inconsiderate buffoon. Excuse my colourful words.

Anyway the album That's the Spirit by Bring Me The Horizon is out as of last Friday and can I just say we all LURVE it! At school we couldn't wait to go home and listen to it so we went to a lunchtime club which had computers, logged onto our individual Spotify accounts and then just listened. But since our school isn't a big fan of websites which require you to log into it with no educational need provided then that website, if hasn't already been blocked, will be extremely slow and won't respond very well.

LI was honestly so hyper on Friday because of this. Ah stupid LI.

I think BMTH have come a long way from their first album which is Bedroom Sessions. This album was released in 2006 when I was 5 so I don't think I heard it until I was about 12/13. Take the song Medusa for example (from the album Count Your Blessings), that song would've scared me when I was younger (not gonna lie to ya maties) but if I listen to it now then I'm fine. However over these 9 years BMTH have developed immensely. Their first album was more screamo than the traditional rock. Then as the years went on they began incorporating singing, acoustics and quite a few orchestral elements into their songs. I think that's why I absolutely love them. I'm not a huge fan of screamo - I mean I can listen to it where it's inserted for parts of the song but if the whole thing just has someone screaming a bunch of lyrics then I just don't enjoy the song as much.

I think their album Sempiternal won me over. It was just so good! I have a feeling LI's gonna yell at me when she reads this because she thinks I'm being stupid saying I only like Sempiternal. I'm actually not saying that, LI! Don't be daft, stupid.

Let's get back to the album. The first song on the album is Doomed and oh my freaking gosh it's beautiful. It's one of my favourite songs. In my opinion Oli sang this in many different tones which gave it a unique sound. There's soft singing at the beginning with the line :'you can have my heart,' and I love that line so effing much. Then you have the louder bits where the chorus comes in to make a bold statement :'So come rain on my parade.'
The song itself is an amazing introduction to the whole album since, in my opinion, contains little tasters of what the other songs could possibly sound like.

That's The Spirit:
1)Doomed
2) Happy Song
3)Throne
4) True Friends
5) Follow You (absolutely adore this song as well)
6) What You Need
7) Avalanche
8) Run
9) Drown
10) Blasphemy (favourite word and one of my favourite songs)
11) Oh No

Most of the songs (if not all) have an element of symphonic rock which I think is awesome. I really do hope you guys check the album out because it deserves attention. I'll insert some videos down below - these aren't the official videos since they're not out on YouTube but they're the official songs though.

Doomed

Follow You

Run

Just gonna post those because it's quite a challenge finding an unaltered new album song on YouTube. Do give them a listen since they're freaking amazing. PS: I do a fair amount of swearing but since ST is an idiot she said to make this blog swear free eventhough she's one those people in our group who need a filter in their mouth (I'm one of them). Anyway this is it for today guys. You know what I've noticed? I've become quite a frequent blogger. That's because I do my homework before I do anything else now since the 6 of us are now in year 10 meaning GCSEs people! Big exams! Life! Future! All depends on this! Actually it depends on your A-Levels but to do certain A-Levels you need certain grades and since I want to study Chemistry, Biology, Psychology and Philosophy at A-Level I need tip top grades, my fellow readers. Stay in school and be good - ish.
