The Riot Club

Hey guys IK here and as promised I said I shall do a post on The Riot Club.

So The Riot Club is a film set around rich kids who are smart enough to get into Oxford University which is the oldest university in the English speaking world. My mum was like I should study enough and get into Oxford and I just laughed in her face. I'm not smart enough for Oxford. Anywho the story revolves around Alistair Ryle and Miles Richards who are both wealthy and are starting their first year at university. However Miles is more down to earth and sweet while Alistair is a bit of snob. Miles gets himself a girlfriend called Lauren who is from a lower background than him and is more than happy to have her. The two of them, SURPRISE SURPRISE, get accepted into The Riot Club. Alistair ends up hating Miles since he considers the club as a competition to top one another.

The club have their annual dinner at a country pub where they act very rowdy and disturb the other customers causing Chris, the pub owner, to lose them. Though they reimburse Chris they cause more damage worth more than they paid him. After a prostitute denied giving each one of them something oral, Alistair secretly gets Miles' phone and texts Lauren to come to the pub.

Some members of the club importune Lauren, much to Miles' dismay, causing her to run away. The club trash the pub whereas Miles tries to contact Lauren.

I'm not going to tell you anything else otherwise it'll be known as a spoiler and not many people like that - I do though. I wasn't much of a fan of the ending but I respected Miles' decision in the end.
Whether I encourage you to watch The Riot Club is still in my decision-making process. I think it's a good film to teach you about not being so stubborn and spoilt but be nice and down to earth. The contrast between Miles and Alistair is quite heavy and it's very noticeable. I think you should watch it because it's a good film with a good storyline but I'm not that keen on how it ended. There will be times when you'll be extremely shocked and times where you'll soften up to the characters (you may think Alistair only acts a certain way because of the pressure he receives from his father)  - it just depends on who you are. You might even watch it because of who the cast are :

Max Irons - Miles Richards

Ben Schnetzer - Dimitri Mitropoulis
