The novelty wears off after a while. Same streets, same faces, same people.
A shriek from the bathroom, it's just Ms. Cabilworth, she was trying to steal from us again.
Tonight is the 31st of October, Halloween, our spirits are freed, we descend to Earth as per our yearly routine. Put a face on, scare a few children and return.
This time I plan to stay for longer.
I began my solo, unnoticed descend at two in the morning, whilst the sky was still dark. Being the invisible person I am, I could move around the streets easily, silently. Only a few people were active, here and there.
I see a man trap a woman with his arm, another holding a blade to his neck. "Now, now young fello, that's just not right is it?"
As expected he turns around, startled at the sound. "W-who's there? C-come out, I-I'm armed."
Foolish human, if I were to be the authorities then this man would be locked away for a long time, lucky for him, I am not. "I am standing right in front of you my boy" the girl had taken this time to escape. Wise choice.
I circled the boy, to be honest, if it weren't for my invisibility, I'd be human. Easy to admit, I am one of the least scary monsters out there.
The man gulped. I chuckled, I was nothing to fear. Oh no, there is much worse.
"I would advise you to keep your hands off of women but I'm afraid, you won't have much use for them after you're gone." Before he could retaliate, I snapped his neck then released him from my grasp as his lifeless body fell to the ground.
I turned to see the girl who I had thought had escaped looking directly at me.
Her confused face spread into a smile. "Night night"
